Overview

Doctor Detector ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users identify AI-generated and deepfake videos. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

What Data We Collect

We collect as little data as possible:

Video frames: When you activate a scan, screenshots of the current browser tab are captured and sent to Google's Gemini AI for analysis. These frames are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers.
Anonymous usage ID: A randomly generated identifier (UUID) is stored locally on your device to track your daily free tier usage. This ID cannot be linked to your identity.
License key: If you are a Pro subscriber, your license key is stored locally on your device to validate your subscription.

What We Do NOT Collect

Your name, email, or any personal information
Your browsing history or the URLs you visit
Any data from web pages you visit
Audio or microphone recordings (speech recognition runs locally in your browser)

Third-Party Services

The Extension uses the following third-party services:

Google Gemini AI: Video frames are sent to Google's Gemini API for AI analysis. Google's privacy policy applies to this processing. Frames are sent via encrypted HTTPS and are not stored by our service.
Cloudflare Workers: Our backend runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to data in transit.
Stripe: If you purchase a Pro subscription, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your payment details.

Data Storage

All Extension data (UUID, license key, settings) is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. No personal data is transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Data Retention

Video frames are processed in real-time and discarded immediately after analysis. Daily usage counts are stored temporarily (24 hours) and automatically deleted.

Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
